If you go for it, ask to review a recent ‘90% CD’ set with redlines — I’ve caught missing ASHRAE 170 airflow calcs that way and it tells you a lot about their QA/coordination. Pay looks fair for Austin, but make sure commissioning/site hours are billable, not “on your own time”; @Jobot, is that covered?
On healthcare work in Austin, I always ask to see their actual Revit MEP template and a live model — if they can open a recent ‘OR suite’ with med gas families and clear sheet standards, you’ll move fast; if not, push for training/time in the offer so the $100–$150k range doesn’t come with chronic overtime.
Echoing @oliver_lee47 on digging into process, ask to see the construction admin snapshot — RFI log and submittal turnaround — on a recent OR/ED job; it shows whether PMs protect engineering hours and if controls/plumbing RFIs are spiraling. If they won’t share, ask for anonymized averages (RFIs per project, CA hours) so you know what that $100–$150k workload really looks.
