The pay looks fine for entry; the real value is learning Metasys/BACnet - bring a USB‑RS485 dongle and get used to trending points, it turns VAV and sensor issues into a 10‑minute fix instead of a half-day.
On a federal BAS project, my CAC took 6 weeks and I couldn’t go solo until it cleared, so ask if you’ll be paid to shadow during that downtime. Also confirm whether drive time between APG buildings is on the clock and that they provide a JCI-imaged laptop for Metasys - phones sometimes aren’t allowed inside certain facilities.
