Turns out their teenage daughter had decided it was ‘her’ control panel and cranked it up because she didn’t like the AC blasting during her TikTok sessions. It made me realize how much we need to educate our clients about their thermostats — especially the younger ones. Anyone else had a tech mishap caused by a family member who didn’t get the memo?
It’s crazy how much control kids think they should have over the thermostat! I recently had a similar situation and just had to unplug the Wi-Fi to the thermostat during peak hours to teach them a lesson. Maybe showing the teens how much the bill goes up could give them a wake-up call.
It’s wild how picky teens can be — maybe it’s time we start offering thermostat tutorials as part of our service. After all, they might be running the world soon — why not let them cool it down first?
